President Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife Olena Zelenska set the candles in tribute to the ‘Heavenly Hundred Heroes’ in central Kyiv
Elon Musk has claimed that Volodymyr Zelensky is “despised” by the Ukrainian people and accused him of “feeding off the dead bodies” of his countrymen.
Echoing Donald Trump's criticisms, Musk wrote on X that Zelensky’s approval ratings had fallen and alleged—without providing evidence—that the Ukrainian president manipulated online opinion polls and the media to inflate his popularity.
“If the people of Ukraine truly loved Zelensky, he would hold an election,” Musk stated. “He knows he would lose by a landslide, despite having seized control of all Ukrainian media, so he canceled the election. In reality, he is despised by the people of Ukraine, which is why he has refused to hold an election.”
Musk challenged Zelensky to call an election and supported Trump’s decision to exclude him from peace negotiations.
“President Trump is right to ignore him and work toward peace independently of the massive graft machine that is profiting from the deaths of Ukrainian soldiers,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, Zelensky met with U.S. envoy Gen. Keith Kellogg in Kyiv to discuss securing a lasting peace deal. Shortly after Musk’s remarks, Zelensky expressed gratitude to the United States and emphasized the importance of American leadership in European security.
“I am grateful to the United States for all the assistance and bipartisan support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people,” he posted on X.
