According to an intelligence report, the Kremlin is planning to frame its upcoming announcement as a triumph over both Ukraine and NATO. The Kyiv Independent, citing Ukrainian military intelligence, has revealed that Russia is likely to declare "victory" in its war against Ukraine on February 24, 2025, marking the third anniversary of its full-scale invasion of Kyiv in 2022.

The report suggests that the Kremlin intends to use this symbolic date to claim a strategic win, not only over Ukraine but also over NATO. Russian propaganda has long framed the conflict as a broader struggle against the Western alliance, and this announcement is expected to reinforce that narrative.

“Russia is preparing to declare an alleged 'victory' in the war against Ukraine by the 'round date'—24 February 2025, the third anniversary of the beginning of the full-scale war,” the intelligence agency stated, according to the Daily Express. It added that Moscow’s plans may also include portraying the outcome as a "Russian victory over NATO."

This development comes amid reports of high-level discussions between the United States and Russia aimed at resolving the Ukraine conflict. It also coincides with growing tensions between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump has recently criticized Zelenskyy, calling him a "dictator" and urging him to act swiftly to negotiate an end to the war. Trump warned that if Zelenskyy fails to do so, he risks losing his nation entirely.

Zelenskyy, in turn, has accused Trump of operating within a Russian-made "disinformation space." The Ukrainian leader has expressed frustration with Trump’s push for a peace deal, which he believes overlooks Russia’s aggression and places undue blame on Ukraine for the conflict. This exchange highlights the escalating friction between the two leaders and raises concerns among European allies about the Trump administration’s re-engagement with Russia.

As tensions rise, the Kremlin’s planned declaration of victory underscores its efforts to shape the narrative of the war, both domestically and internationally. Meanwhile, the ongoing diplomatic efforts and political rhetoric reflect the complex dynamics at play in resolving the conflict.
