Donald Trump is making Republicans nervous, while Elon Musk scrambles to keep things from falling apart.

A U.S. political commentator has asserted that Donald Trump is causing alarm among Republicans as tensions rise within the current political climate. During a recent episode of the *Trump 100* podcast, Sky News U.S. correspondent Mark Stone shared his insights on the former president, recounting a conversation with a "very senior Republican senator, who is close to Donald Trump." According to Stone, the senator expressed unease about certain developments, particularly regarding the situation in Ukraine and U.S. relations with European nations.

Stone elaborated on how the Republican Party has transformed under Trump's influence, noting, "The Republican Party has undergone a dramatic shift in a relatively short period. It was once the party of Reagan, which is vastly different from the party of Trump, even though Trump often tries to align himself with Ronald Reagan's legacy."

While acknowledging that some Republicans may feel uncomfortable with Trump's political decisions, Stone suggested that the growing influence of figures like Elon Musk, who has aligned himself with Trump, may be discouraging dissent within the party.

He explained, "Traditionalist, Atlanticist Republicans are deeply concerned about the current state of affairs. However, they are reluctant to speak out publicly. One reason for this hesitation is the fear of retaliation. Figures like Elon Musk have openly declared their willingness to fund efforts to oust critics of Trump from the Republican Party, ensuring they lose their seats in primaries if they dare to oppose him. This is the reality of the situation today."

Stone's comments follow Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's high-profile visit to the U.S., his first since Trump's re-election. Many anticipated the meeting would culminate in the signing of a minerals deal between the two nations. However, the live-televised event in the Oval Office concluded abruptly without any agreement being reached. The tense exchanges between Vice President JD Vance and Zelenskyy, who frequently talked over each other, further highlighted the strained dynamics at play.

The growing unease among Republicans, coupled with the influence of powerful allies like Musk, underscores the shifting power dynamics within the party. As Trump continues to shape its direction, internal dissent is being stifled, leaving traditional Republicans in a precarious position. The political landscape remains volatile, with Trump's actions and alliances casting a long shadow over the future of the GOP.
