Whoopi Goldberg from The View found Trump's meeting with Zelensky "chilling" and urged viewers to openly support Ukraine.
During a discussion on The View, Whoopi Goldberg criticized last week’s Trump-Zelensky-Vance Oval Office meeting, calling it “one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever seen.” She openly expressed her support for Ukrainian President Zelensky, emphasizing his country’s ongoing fight and condemning invasions by other nations. Goldberg remarked, “Many countries have a habit of invading others. We’ve all said for the past 100 years we don’t like that, and now, here we are. Who are we?”
Goldberg also described the meeting, in which Trump and Vance seemed to shift from supporting Ukraine to backing Russia, as “chilling.”
Her co-hosts joined in with strong opinions. Ana Navarro, commenting on the spectacle, argued that the situation felt staged. She pointed out how Trump criticized Zelensky’s attire, drawing a comparison to Winston Churchill, who also wore a uniform during WWII without facing criticism.
Navarro condemned the focus on Zelensky's clothing, saying, “What he’s wearing doesn’t matter; he represents a country at war, where thousands of lives have been lost and destroyed.” She further expressed her disgust, calling it one of the most “embarrassing, horrifying” moments in the Oval Office.
Navarro also took aim at Republican Senators Lindsey Graham and Marco Rubio, expressing shame over their actions. She said, “Marco has spent his whole career opposing tyranny, and to see him go along with Trump’s agenda is truly disappointing.”
Sunny Hostin added to the critique, agreeing with Navarro that the meeting seemed pre-planned. She noted that former UN Ambassador Susan Rice suggested it was set up, especially given that Vice President Kamala Harris typically doesn’t speak in such moments without presidential approval. Hostin also pointed out the turning point when Zelensky confronted JD Vance, asking if he had ever been to Ukraine. She said, “Zelensky embarrassed the bully, and we know what happens when you embarrass a bully—tantrums follow.”
Goldberg closed the segment by urging viewers to openly declare their support for Ukraine. Hostin joined in, saying, “I support Ukraine.”
